Board of Commissioners
The NCCAOM is governed by the Chief Executive Officer and ten Commissioners who are voted into office by general election. In approving nominations, the Nominating Committee considers diversity in ethnicity, gender, geographic distribution, professional experience, education and school of thought within the profession.

Mike McKeown

Mike McKeown, B.A., M.A., Th.M., spent over twenty-five years in health administration and planning in public and private sectors before joining the NCCAOM Board of Commissioners in 2002. At the American Association Retired People (AARP), he managed the organization's Health and Long Term Care department and formulated AARP's educational response to managed care. He supervised a staff team that implemented a nationwide project to train adults as Medicare counselors. To help consumers be effective members of health professions licensing boards, he oversaw the start-up of the Citizen Advocacy Center. Earlier, at the Appalachian Regional Commission, he served as Assistant Director of Health. McKeown received a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Letters and a M.A. degree in English Literature at St. Louis University and a Th.M. degree in Psychology and Religion at Princeton. McKeown currently chairs the Commission’s Board Development Committee and the Recertification Committee. McKeown also servers as the Secretary for the Commission.
