WHAT?

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®) will be conducting a survey of licensed acupuncturists nationwide for the purpose of gathering their opinions about job-related functions.

The survey is part of a research-based job analysis (JA) study to define and update a core set of competencies, skills, and performance expectations that result in safe and effective acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practice.

Defining these core competencies and job tasks is critical for public protection and growth of the profession.

Please visit the JA Informational Page for a history of prior NCCAOM job analyses and to access Executive Summary reports.

WHY?

To ensure that the NCCAOM certification examinations are fair and relevant, they must reflect up to date practices and the most current safety standards.

It is essential to periodically conduct surveys of the profession to document the tasks that are performed and the knowledge, skills, and abilities practitioners must possess in order to practice competently and safely.

By participating, you are helping define the future of NCCAOM licensing exams and certification.

WHEN?

The 2017 JA Study survey will go live and be available starting June 30, 2017. All NCCAOM Diplomates and/or licensed acupuncturists practicing in the U.S. and aboard are invited to participate.

The survey will remain active through August 27, 2017. After completion of the JA study, the results from the survey and the entire JA process will be made available to the public to provide transparency surrounding this critical process.
