NCCAOM Announces Changes to the ABT Certification Program
As of October 29, 2012, no new Asian Bodywork Therapy applications are being accepted by the NCCAOM.
In Fall 2011 the NCCAOM® formally anounced the discontinuation of the NCCAOM Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) Exam, currently offered to earn certification as a Diplomate of ABT (NCCAOM), effective January 1, 2013. The NCCAOM Board of Commissioners will convene a Blue Ribbon Panel that includes stakeholders from the Asian bodywork therapy and massage communities to determine if there is a current or potential future need for the development of a newly proposed ABT credential. Earning certification from NCCAOM represents a significant professional achievement; therefore, the Diplomate of Asian Bodywork Therapy (NCCAOM) will remain a viable NCCAOM certification for anyone currently holding this certification or for those who will achieve ABT Diplomate status. Benefits and recertification requirements remain unchanged.
The NCCAOM staff has compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers (FAQs) related to the ABT examination and certification program. We encourage you to review these FAQs.
