The AAAOM, CCAOM and NCCAOM have collaborated with the help of other national and state AOM organizations and leaders to draft a letter and position statement requesting that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) designate acupuncture services an essential health benefit (EHB) with information detailing the benefits of acupuncture, its cost-effectiveness, safety record, and potential areas of inclusion in EHB.
This packet, along with over 23,000 letters of support from patients, AOM state associations, schools, and practitioners in support of this important initiative was sent to the HHS before the January 31, 2012 deadline. These documents are accessible below:

AAAOM President Jeannie Kang met with U.S. Representative Judy Chu (D-CA) and Korean leaders in California to stress the importance of including acupuncture services in the Essentials Health Benefits package.
