  • On behalf of NCCAOM, Echo published social media content across all NCCAOM’s social media platforms during the month of December. A total of 11 social media posts were curated for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. In addition to social media content curation and publication, Echo monitored the conversation and engagement garnered on the content throughout each social media platform.

Interview with Heather Smith

  • In December, Echo interviewed Heather Smith for a developing media pitch that will highlight the use of acupuncture by veterans. Heather will be providing NCCAOM with veteran testimonials that advocate for the use of acupuncture to help with their health ailments and issues.

Family Features Article

  • Echo developed a byline article “5 Tips to Cope with Chronic Pain” which was distributed through a syndication service. The article was picked up in 347 magazines and newspapers around the country in December.

Bill Reddy Byline Article

Initiatives with Modern Acupuncture

  • NCCAOM continued initiatives with Modern Acupuncture and participated in a conference call to establish an editorial calendar for the two organizations.

Collaboration with Heather Douglas

  • Echo was introduced to Heather Douglas, a Diplomate working in the Veterans Affairs system, who will be collaborating with the teams to promote acupuncturist in the AD.

Partnership with ASA

  • In effort to form a partnership with ASA, NCCAOM and ASA organized conference calls to begin a campaign that will leverage the profession and acupuncturists.

  • While pitching the topic of AOM Day 2018, NCCAOM secured a story with St. Louis Magazine in which resulted in an interview with Afua Bromley that discussed acupuncture and the benefits it can offer for stress.

AOM Day Initiatives with Modern Acupuncture

  • To prepare for National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day, NCCAOM and Echo Media Group began collaborating with Adi Korman and Lindsay St. Clair of Modern Acupuncture.   • A Facebook ad campaign was developed with the goal of driving traffic to NCCAOM Practice Test web pages. This campaign will run for eight weeks targeting applicants for certification who still have to take one or more National Board Exams.

NCCAOM Recruits SmithBucklin Press Release

  • The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)® has retained John Richardson, Director, Government Relations and Health Care Practice Group at SmithBucklin to provide federal advocacy services, further enabling the ability of the 36-year-old organization to work with U.S. policymakers and regulators.   • NCCAOM was mentioned in two major media outlets encouraging consumers to visit the NCCAOM site to find a certified practitioner.

Syndicated Article Distribution Project

  • A syndicated news article addressing the topic of opioid abuse and chronic pain and how NCCAOM and acupuncture can help was developed. The goal of the article is to increase the amount of times the term “NCCAOM nationally board-certified practitioners” appears in news articles and drive consumers who are interested in finding a certified acupuncturist to the NCCAOM website.   • Recently, the Veterans Administration announced that acupuncturists are allowed to work within the Veterans Administration and that a NCCAOM certificate is a requirement when treating veterans. To leverage this industry news, NCCAOM distributed a press release on a wire service nationally and conducted media outreach for potential coverage.

Getting to the Point Documentary

  • Echo attended the film screening of “Getting to the Point” which was co-produced and directed by Doug Dearth (also the producer of the documentary 9000 Needles) and the ANF. NCCAOM was a sponsor of the film. The new documentary explores the role of acupuncture in the treatment of cancer victims. Echo created a media advisory and invited local media to attend and cover the story. Echo will continue to pitch the documentary into May and distribute a joint press release on behalf of NCCAOM and ANF.

Links to NCCAOM’s The Science of Cupping content appeared as recommendations on the web’s largest content publishers including sites like CNN.com, Fox News and Time Magazine.

  • Echo Media Group promoted NCCAOM’s The Science of Cupping article via a content distribution service. Echo Media Group drove 3,731 consumers to view the article on the NCCAOM website and garnered 1.4 million impressions.
  • Echo Media Group drafted a press release to announce the new NIH study which validated the effectiveness of acupuncture and other non-drug health therapies for pain. The release was distributed via wire service and internal media lists.
  • Echo Media Group updated the opioid expert source sheet to include the NIH chronic pain study and the letter that the US surgeon general Murthy sent to all physicians. Murthy is asking doctors to educate themselves on the addictiveness of painkillers. He is also asking physicians to screen the people they say for opioid abuse disorder and provide them with “evidence-based treatment.”
  • NCCAOM was featured in The Huffington Post. The article drove 132 people to the NCCAOM website.

Olympics/Cupping Craze

  • Echo Media Group contacted all major TV news stations including Fox News, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, daily newspapers throughout the United States including USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, national radio programs, online news sites and national health magazines and provided two NCCAOM board members available for interviews to discuss cupping and why it is important to find a NCCAOM certified practitioner. Echo also provided each news station with a link to the NCCAOM cupping page that explains the process and provides links to articles about cupping in peer-reviewed journals and publications. NCCAOM conducted interviews with CBS News Health, FOX News Health and WebMD.
  • Echo Media Group drafted a press release to announce that NCCAOM secured an independent Standard Occupational Code (SOC) for Acupuncturists from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Press release was distributed via the wire and internal media lists. The BLS release alone drove 22 people to the NCCAOM website.
  • NCCAOM was mentioned in a US News Health report. The NCCAOM mention in the article drove 101 website visits.
  • Echo Media Group interviewed NCCAOM spokesperson Rhonda Lewis and her patient, David Herrera who recently broke three national powerlifting records at the American Powerlifting Federation (APF) National Championship. He attributes his success to his training schedule, coaches, determination and the acupuncture and Oriental medicine treatment he has been receiving from NCCAOM-certified practitioner Rhonda Lewis. The media story was sent to local media and powerlifting publications. Several media outlets conducted interviews and featured NCCAOM in their articles.
  • Echo Media Group worked closely with NCCAOM spokesperson Bill Reddy to develop an expert source sheet regarding the topic of opioid abuse and the opioid overdose epidemic taking place in the United States.
