JACKSONVILLE, FL, April 12, 2017 – The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)® has elected F. Afua Bromley as the new Chair of its Board of Commissioners. With the NCCAOM governed by its Chief Executive Officer and 10 Commissioners, the Board Chair has a significant impact on furthering the organization’s mission.

“It is a great honor and privilege to be elected Board Chair of the NCCAOM Board of Commissioners,” said F. Afua Bromley, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. NCCAOM.  “As an organization committed to public safety and excellence in the practice of acupuncture and East Asian medicine, we are dedicated to promoting our national evidence-based standards of competence and credentialing through our certification process.” “I am committed to finding experienced practitioners who can demonstrate excellence and competence, and can hold the standard of excellence both in the United States and abroad,” said Bromley.

As Chair, Bromley will continue to be an advocate of qualified and competent acupuncturists through NCCAOM Board Certification.  “Ms. Bromley commences her term as the NCCAOM chief elected board member at a time of major transition for the organization, says Dr. Kory Ward-Cook, CEO. “As the NCCAOM embarks on a path to step up its public awareness of NCCAOM board certified acupuncturists, she is well suited to lead the NCCAOM Board of Commissioners in this effort.”

NCCAOM’s Governance Committee evaluates diversity in ethnicity, gender, geographic distribution, professional experience as well as experience on the Board understanding of thought within the profession when choosing a new chair.
