2024 JOB ANALYSIS INFORMATION

WHAT:
The NCCAOM is pleased to announce that the 2024 Job Task Analysis (JTA) Survey was distributed on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, to all licensed acupuncturists and herbal medicine practitioners. We encourage all practitioners to participate in the 2024 JTA survey. Your participation in this effort is invaluable in defining NCCAOM exam content outlines at the entry-to-practice level. The data collected is essential for recognition and advancing the acupuncture and herbal medicine profession with government agencies, employers and other institutions.

WHY:
The acupuncture and herbal medicine profession, like most health care professions, requires standardization across the board (consistency, processes, and procedures) on a national level. The process of standardization would improve the level of competency and safety – not just statewide or local, but also nationally. A well-constructed job analysis (JA) is the foundation of a defensible professional certification program, establishing the link between test scores achieved on a certifying examination and the core knowledge, skills, and abilities that all competent practitioners must possess. A successful JA promotes exam content that is relevant, fair, and appropriate, which in turn leads to legally defensible, high-quality certification programs.

Incentives:

Acupuncturists and herbal medicine practitioners are eligible to receive three (3) NCCAOM Professional Development Activity (PDA) points/credits in the NCCAOM Core recertification categories for completing ratings for each exam content section in the survey. The total number of PDA points awarded will be based on the total number of content sections completed. The completion of up to four exam content sections may result in up to 12 PDA points.

Important!

PDA points for completing the NCCAOM JA Survey are reported to the Diplomate’s current Recertification cycle with a completion date of May 5, 2024. According to NCCAOM policy, PDA points earned during one Recertification cycle cannot be carried over to the next cycle. This policy is detailed on page 30 of the NCCAOM Recertification Handbook.

PDA Points

Certificates of completion with PDA points for JA Survey participation will be distributed to all participants within four (4) weeks after Survey close date of May 5, 2024.
