STEP-BY-STEP THROUGH REINSTATEMENT PROCESS
All former NCCAOM Diplomates in terminated status wishing to return to active status with NCCAOM via the Reinstatement To Active Status must complete all requirements outlined below.
Please note: The Application for Reinstatement is valid for twelve (12) months and is reviewed only when all requirements including PDA/CE credits are satisfied.

PDA/ CE Reporting for Reinstatement
- All applicants for NCCAOM certification reinstatement are advised to complete the PDA/CE Reporting process prior to submitting the Reinstatement application.
- Online Profile. All former Diplomates already have an NCCAOM online portal. If you are unable to reset your password, please contact NCCAOM to retrieve your login credentials. Creation of a duplicate account may cause a delay in your application processing.
- PDA/CE Reporting. Once logged into your NCCAOM Online Portal, scroll down and click “Report Reinstatement CEs” link.
- Please Note. All PDA/CEU coursework must be completed in CORE category (AOM, ABT, BIO). This document will help in understanding of the CORE Categories. Report each course by providing all course information and uploading the certificate of completion.

Certificates of completion can be scanned documents or clear legible images taken with a cell phone. - PDA/CEU requirement and application fee are calculated based on each certification expiration date. - Certification Expiration Date. NCCAOM Certification expiration date may be found:
a) on NCCAOM Wall Certificate;
b) in individual’s NCCAOM Online Portal;
c) NCCAOM Registry. If you cannot find your certification expiration date, contact the NCCAOM at [email protected]. Each case will be investigated on a case by case basis.

NCCAOM Application for Reinstatement
- All applications for NCCAOM certification are submitted online. Application fees are due at the time the application is submitted to NCCAOM. All fees are payable in United States ($) dollars and are non-refundable.

- Online Application. The application for Reinstatement is available within the individual’s Online Portal.
- The application for Reinstatement is valid for 12 months from the date of submission. All reinstatement requirements must be met within the 12-month time period, or a new application must be submitted. Application fees are non-refundable.
- Please Note. Supporting documentation of an active state Acupuncture license(s) and proof of a free and clear license are required at the time of the application submission.

- The application Fee for the Reinstatement is calculated based on an individual’s NCCAOM Certification expiration date.

Background Screening Requirement
A background screening completed via the NCCAOM’s third party vendor Private Eyes is a mandatory requirement for the Reinstatement process. It is recommended to complete this screening only after an application for Reinstatement has been submitted.

NCCAOM Reinstatement to Active Status
Clean Needle Technique (CNT) Verification

Ensure the certificate of completion for the original Clean Needle Technique (CNT) course offered by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAHM) is recorded on file with NCCAOM. To confirm the CNT course is on file, the CNT course completion date is clearly visible within an individual’s Online Portal in the Additional Information section.
- Complete the CCAHM Clean Needle Technique (CNT): Review Acupuncture Safety course and request verification of the course to be sent to NCCAOM. Applicants may report the CNT Review Course: Acupuncture Safety for 4 PDA/CEU credits to their reinstatement transcript.
- All certificates of completion for the original CNT course and the CNT Review: Acupuncture Safety course must be sent to the NCCAOM directly from the CCAHM.
- CNT verification must be requested only AFTER an application for Reinstatement is completed with NCCAOM.

Reinstatement Final Assessment
If the applicant is terminated 8 or more years, they must also successfully pass the NCCAOM® Reinstatement Final Assessment. Fifty (50) questions are on the Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology Assessment completed in 1 hour. Oriental Medicine Final Assessment has 75 questions and applicants are given 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the Assessment. Scores less than 75% require the applicant to complete five (5) PDAs/CEUs coursework in each weak domain area and then retake the assessment. There is a $40 fee for each attempt to pass the Final Assessment.

NCCAOM Final Approval
The Reinstatement application will not be processed by the Customer Relations Team (CRT) until all eligibility requirements have been met and PDA/CEUs have been reported.
After the Reinstatement application is processed, all eligibility requirements and PDA/CEUs reported, reviewed and approved, the newly reinstated Diplomate will:
- receive a confirmation email sent to the email address provided on the application
- receive by USPS mail a Newly Certified Diplomate packet including the NCCAOM Wall Certificate and a wallet size ID card
- become eligible to receive NCCAOM Diplomate Benefits
