Re-taking an Examination
Candidates have five (5) opportunities to successfully pass an examination once their graduate transcript and CNT Certificate are received at NCCAOM. After the fifth unsuccessful attempt to pass an NCCAOM examination (all formats and/or languages inclusive), the candidate must satisfy additional educational requirements based on multiple factors like certification application validity, exams passed etc. to receive additional exam attempts.

- Complete 120 hours additional education (formal or continuing education or tutoring). 45 hours of the additional 120 hours of education must be earned in the failed domain area(s) and 75 hours of the additional 120 hours of education must be taken in any other (not failed domain) core domain area. All 120 hours must be taken no earlier than 1-year prior to the NCCAOM reapplication date.

Know your area of weakness. Verify in which subject area are you having problems based on your NCCAOM Official Exam Results Letters.
OPTIONS:
- Contact your school for assistance. Many schools have national board exam review courses available.
- Ask your school to assign an instructor/counselor to work with you to create your additional education content and a study plan based on your area(s) of weakness.
- Contact an instructor you know who would be willing to tutor you and work with you to create the additional education content and a study plan.
- Enroll in a national board exam preparation program. NCCAOM is non-partisan and does not endorse one company over another.
Required documentation:
- A certificate of completion or an official school transcript.
- The documentation must include the course name, course date and hours completed.
